Nutshelly update

Activities since last post

  • work
  • going to see a ballet with Chrissi – at the Staatsoper, very posh, but I loved it (Onegin, very classical)
  • work
  • Goldfrapp live in concert: short, because Ms. Alison suffered from f***ed-up voice
  • work
  • two role-playing sessions in the Buffyverse. My character, Willow Rosenberg, rules :p
  • work
  • visiting the current Frida Kahlo exhibition with Chrissi – after 30 minutes worth of queueing we were finally admitted. I did not know much of her life and work before except what is shown in the movie (starring Selma Hayek) – the movie, together with the explanations in the exhibition leae me with two choices: Either she must have been a very very VERY emotional person, or lots of myth and drama have been added to her story. A good idea might be to pick up a good biography.
In any case: I loved many of her pictures, my favourites are La columna rota (“the broken column”) and The Love Embrace of the Universe, the Earth (Mexico), Diego, Me, and Senor Xolotl.
The mixture of beauty and pain (bodily, caused by a severe accident in her youth, and emotionally, caused by a turbulous marriage), together with more than just a hint of humour and sometimes sarcasm, lend a rich playground for interpretation and decoding of the many symbols present in the paintings.
  • work
  • Blind Guardian live in concert: WHEEEE

  1. We have to thank Joss Whedon for creating and naming Willow’s character.

In a nutshell: Willow is a gay Jewish Wiccan *g*
