Russian fairytale

Ladies and gentlemen, we had a deadline: Gala Nocturna in Februar 2012, and the topic was Russian fairytales. Melwen and I travelled through Europe to attend this fantastic ball and we carried mighty outfits with us.

As I very much admire Viona’s Russian gown which is tudor-y in appearance, I recycled my Tudor pair of bodies; I added a fluffy petticoatĀ (which will be reused for my Tudor-WTF, harhar) and a short jacket with fur I recycled from an old jacket my ex-mother-in-law gave to me.
My lovely friends Melwen and Kupferfeuer introduced me to the kokoshnik, a Russian type of headdress. Veeeery mighty and fancy, and modern versions are around, too. This kind however is easier to make – not as high, thus does not need as much reinforcement.

I finished the pearl embroidery on the train to Brussels, but apart from that everything was finished on time.
