Back from visiting family and being quite content – my mother as well as my sister have found nice homely flats, and I managed to be an agreeable family member throughout my stay.
We walked about the Tyrolean countryside, had lots of cookies, and I saw two odd things featured on houses: the weird one was a saying painted on the wall of a recently renovated Tyrolean house: “Deutsches Heim und deutsches Land schirme Gott mit starker Hand” (I am absolutely not sure what to make of this), and the cute one was a life-sized spiderman figure mounted on another house wall, with a Santa Clause hat on his head.
I also found the time to catch up on my reading (currently lots of Dawkins, he is a brilliant writer) and get through some of the rss feeds that managed to pile up during December – a particular nice one being The Advent Calendar of Physics by Chad Orzel with a famous formula each day.
